Photo Poster Printing
I remember when I was a young lad, especially around the ages between 8 yrs old and 14 yrs old, I had a strange but very common obsession with rock and roll icons. It all started with the rock band Kiss. As an impressionable youngster in the seventies I found my life revolving around this legendary rock band. I suppose I was like most other kids my age, entranced by the makeup, theatrics and sheer raw power of this band that broke all of the rules. Never before had there been a band that was so outrageous. They were the loudest, most hard core band that had ever come along at the time. These days there are acts out there that have taken their ideas to the next level to be sure, but if you were a kid in the early nineteen seventies, the band Kiss was a part of your everyday vocabulary.
Now since I was probably their number one fan (along with every other member of the Kiss Army), I had to display my admiration for them in ways that would let the rest of the world know that I was in the know. I was a member of the cool kids club. And the marketing genius of the band made it very easy for me to accomplish this task. Whatever the item that you needed or wanted, there was a Kiss version of it. I had a Kiss radio, Kiss T-shirts, Kiss dolls, Kiss lunchboxes and even Kiss underwear. My obsession was such that I even dressed up as Kiss members every Halloween for years. My friends were on the same page as me so together we had the whole band represented. People gave us hoards of candy to show their appreciation of our efforts.
The main exhibition of my fan hood though was my bedroom. I had Kiss posters tacked up over every square inch of my walls so I could stare in amazement at their performances all day and all night long. As I got older, my collection of posters grew to include other rock and roll bands. There was Led Zeppelin of course, Black Sabbath, Rush and The Who. To me it seemed that if you had your own posters and T-shirts, you had made it. You were somebody important in the world that held the respect of many people.
Now, after many years have gone by and technology has brought us so many interesting tools, I came to realize that I too could be somebody. I took out my 10 megapixel camera and took a few pictures of myself. Then I loaded the photos into Photoshop and with a little computer magic, I had a picture of myself looking just like a modern day rock star would. I uploaded the photos to a printer who offered photo poster printing services. When I got the posters back from the printer, I hung them on the walls of a club that my friend manages. I then sat back and enjoyed the relentless attention from all of the ladies.
